WEEKEND REFLECTION

Psalm 130:3-4 says, “If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.”

If the Lord should mark our iniquities, who could stand? The obvious answer is “no one!”. Aren’t you glad the Lord doesn’t mark your iniquities (if you are truly saved)?

The truth is, he marks all iniquities. Not a sin in the universe goes unaccounted for before a holy God. The Psalmist’s joy is that God doesn’t mark his iniquities to his account. And the reason why is because Christ took our guilt on himself – he accounted for our sin. He satisfied the justice of God. So we are forgiven because of Jesus. Now note where Psalm 130:4 goes. Why does God show us this grace? That we might fear him. He forgives us, and when we ponder that we are left trembling with fear before our holy, gracious God. Ponder that today!

PRAY

For the month of May 2024 we will be using passages from the book of Ephesians each day to guide our prayers.

Ephesians 1:19

“and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might”

  • Thank God for his "immeasurable greatness!" Take some time to praise and adore him in prayer remembering that he is infinite in all of of his ways.
  • Thank God for showing his power in our life and bringing you to himself.
  • Ask God to continue to work in the lives of others and in yourself to make you more like Christ and strengthen your faith.

You can also take some time bring these things before the Lord.

  • Confess your sins.
  • The Lost
  • Your Needs
