WEEKEND REFLECTION
Americans are known for not liking monarchies. When an army officer suggested to George Washington that he should become king over the U.S., Washington famously replied that the very thought was “abhorrent and reprehensible” to him. Americans don’t like kings. And for good reason. There are no truly good kings.
Except for one!
Psalm 97:1 says, The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!
The very best government possible is not a “representative democracy”, even if that is the best one for us now. The best government is, in fact, a monarchy; a monarchy in which the king is good. And there is one!
The Lord reigns. Jesus is the good King. May your weekend be full of rejoicing in the risen Lord Jesus Christ, our King. He reigns!
PRAY
For the month of April 2024 we will be using the book of Romans each day to guide our prayers.
Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Pray that God would keep you from sin and guard you from the temptations of the world. Ask God to help you be a witness for Christ in the midst of an evil and sinful world and that he would use you to tell others who are lost about Christ. Ask him to renew your mind daily that you would be captivated by the beauty of Christ above all earthly things.
You can also take some time bring these things before the Lord.
