Numbers 11-12

Psalm 82

WEEKEND REFLECTION

Often, at the very conclusion of a Sunday gathering at Faith, a pastor will say this:

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

We read that passage – Numbers 6:24-26 – this week! And what a blessing it is to consider. It was the Lord who gave instructions for Aaron and his sons to bless the people this way. And think of it; right in the midst of seeing so much about the Law, God blesses his people. What a lovely reminder of God’s love and sustaining grace.

Consider all the parts of that benediction today. The Lord bless you, keep you, make his face to shine on you, be gracious to you, let you sense his pleasure in you and give you peace. All of these are blessings that come from the gospel. It is God’s grace to you in Christ.

Rejoice in these verses today!

PRAY

For the month of March 2024 we will be using a portion of Psalm 103 each day to guide our prayers.

Psalm 103:2-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Bless the Lord by naming all that he's done for you and thanking him for it.

  • Bless him for forgiving your sin.
  • Bless him for any healing you've experienced in your life, whether physicial, spiritual, emotional, relational, etc.
  • Bless him for redeeming you and saving you for eternal judgment.
  • Bless him for pouring out his steadfast love and mercy upon you in Christ Jesus.
  • Bless him for satisfying your with his goodness, and renewing your strength in him.

Ask the Lord for grace in these areas especially if you struggle in any of them.

You can also take some time to lift up these things in prayer:

  • Confess your sins
  • The Lost
  • The Church
  • The World
  • Your Needs
