READ
WEEKEND REFLECTION
I’d like to draw your attention to one verse that we read this week, at the end of Genesis. Genesis 50:20 says, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
Joseph said this to his brothers regarding their horrible actions towards him. It is astounding to consider what Joseph is saying. The brothers were acting in malice and hate – they meant evil against Joseph. But God was still providentially working through all things (as he always does) and his motive was to save.
What are you facing? It is possible that you are facing a difficult situation and that someone else is to blame, perhaps someone has acted evil against you (as Joseph’s brothers did against him). Remember, with hope, that God providentially works through things like that. Trust him. You might not understand exactly why God is working in a particular way (as Joseph did), but you can rest in God’s sovereignty and goodness and love.
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer using parts of The Lord's Prayer as a model.
