READ
WEEKEND REFLECTION
This has been a great week of readings in God’s Word. We finished the book of Exodus on Friday, and the Psalms we have covered have been so good.
Psalm 51 is a Psalm of repentance. The backstory to this Psalm is recorded in 2 Samuel 11-12. David had grievously sinned. And his sin gnawed away at his heart until he was confronted by Nathan, and then he repented.
Psalm 51 beautifully puts into words the anguish of David over his own sin, and the hope that he has in God’s grace. Psalm 51:7b says, “wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” Only God can cleanse a sinner like that! And only through the work of Jesus Christ.
Consider how important confession is. Maybe spend time this morning in Psalm 51, reflecting on your own need for God’s mercy and grace, and the sweetness of his forgiveness. Whiter than snow!
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer using parts of The Lord's Prayer as a model.
