READ

Genesis 20-21

Psalm 13

WEEKEND REFLECTION

Once again, our weekly readings in Genesis have walked us through important events of history! Not the least of which is the birth of Isaac.

Do you know what the name, Isaac, means? It means, he laughs! There was a lot of laughter surrounding the birth of Isaac; some good and some not so good.

The not-so-good laughter is Sarah’s laughter of unbelief when she heard God’s promise. Read Genesis 17:12-15. Sarah denied laughing then, but she did laugh. This is impossible! But, as God reminded her, there is nothing too hard for the Lord.

When Isaac was born, she again laughed, but this time in joy at the fulfilment of God’s promise. God has made laughter for me, she said (Genesis 21:6). Oh, what joy! God has kept his promise!

This is our joy too. God keeps his promises. He will keep his promise to you. Remember, nothing is too hard for the Lord!

PRAY

Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer. Here's a helpful pattern to follow (ACTS):

  • ADORATION - Praise God for all that he is and all that he had done.
  • CONFESSION - Confess your sins to God and trust in the finish work of Christ. Thank him for his forgiveness.
  • THANKSGIVING - Thank God for all the many blessings and graces he has shown you.
  • SUPPLICATION - Ask your heavenly Father to supply your needs.
