Josh is a born-and-raised South Dakotan. He comes from a large family of fourteen children, whom he loves dearly. He lived 21 years of his life in Yankton. He graduated from Newsong Homeschool in 2019, and started working as a welder right out of high school to support future ministry pursuits. By the end of 2021 Josh felt that it was time to begin pursuing youth ministry more intentionally, and he began a short internship at his home church, Calvary Baptist. The connections he made led him to Sioux Falls to begin an internship at Faith Baptist Fellowship the fall of 2022. He is currently enrolled in the Timothy Pastoral Apprenticeship program, which was designed to train up pastors through seminary education and mentorship in the church.
Josh grew up in a Christian family who raised him to have a relationship with Jesus and to have a good understanding of the Gospel. At the age of 12 he had an argument where his faith was questioned. At that time he reflected and made a commitment to take his faith more seriously. To this day the Spirit has continued to convict him and sanctify him, and he strives to love God and others more faithfully. He has been involved in ministry in some capacity since he was in high school through a ministry that promoted teens witnessing to their peers. It was through that ministry where God cultivated a passion for youth ministry in Josh's heart.
Josh has served as the Youth Ministry Intern at Faith since the fall of 2022. His focus is discipleship and teaching with middle and high schoolers. Some responsibilities that fall under that banner include: Cultivating a student worship team, empowering students to lead, building life-on-life relationships with high school and middle school guys, discipling them to know and love Jesus, teaching Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings several times a month, and other duties.
Some things Josh enjoys are spending time with his dog, playing volleyball, anything active and outdoors really, writing songs, performing in musicals, and many other things! He is very grateful for the life God has blessed him with and all of the many ways he can spend it.
