Ryan is originally from the farming country around the Parkston, SD area. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (where he met his wife, Kristi), he taught for two years in Henry, SD before moving to Tea where he has taught and coached for the past 18 years. Ryan and Kristi have 5 daughters - Lydia, Meredith, Daphne, Genevieve, and Britta.
Ryan grew up in a Baptist Church in Emery, SD. His parents were active in many areas of church lay ministry. After accepting Christ as a young child, he was challenged to grow throughout his years in the Emery Baptist Youth Group, during college with Campus Crusade, and while attending Faith Baptist Fellowship.
Ryan and his family began attending Faith Baptist Fellowship in 2007. During his time at Faith, Ryan has served in various aspects of Sunday School (he has taught the 3-5 year olds for the past 6 years), Faith University Team, various elements of music ministry, and has previously served on the elder council.
Ryan is active in many areas of his school, coaching cross country, middle school girls' basketball, and boys track and field as well as teaching Driver's Education and is currently the President of the South Dakota Drivers' Education Association.
