Jed grew up in Kearney, Nebraska. He has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He met Carrie Ostraat through a friend and started a long-distance dating relationship. In May, 2008, upon graduation, the two got married.
Jed grew up in a Christian home and trusted in Jesus Christ at a young age. He made this declaration to follow Jesus public in middle school through baptism. In High School Jed served at several Bible camps and Vacation Bible Schools. In college, he was involved in a campus ministry and regularly went evangelizing on the campus with one of his friends. Upon graduation, he continued to work with the youth in churches he attended. Prior to moving to South Dakota, Jed served as the Commander for an Awana club of around 200 kids.
Jed and his family started attending Faith in the fall of 2018, after moving here from Omaha. He enjoys serving with the youth group on Wednesday nights. His wife, Carrie, also serves with the youth group. In the fall of 2025, he was able to accompany the youth on a mission trip to London where they hosted a Vacation Bible School and did street evangelism.
In his free time Jed loves to learn and enjoys making things, whether it be a project around the house or a piece of software he has an idea for.
