Why Jesus?

The world is full of religions, philosophies and ideas. So why bother with Jesus?

When you examine Jesus’ life He is like no other human. He made some outrageous claims. He claimed to be equal with God, predicted his own suffering and death and said he would rise from the dead. That means he was He can only be one of three things: a liar, a lunatic or Lord.

Take a look at what the Bible says about Jesus.

Jesus is the Son of God
When John baptized Jesus, God spoke from heaven and said to Jesus, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22).

Jesus was Fully Human
Jesus’ humanity not only made it possible to offer himself for our sins, but also reminds us that Jesus understands our pain. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

Jesus Came to Save
Jesus’ name means, God saves, which points directly to His mission on earth. He came to rescue people from their sins. “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

Jesus Alone Can Rescue
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Jesus is Above All
God has placed Jesus “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come” (Ephesians 1:21).

The Gospels of MatthewMarkLukeJohn and Paul’s Letter to the Romans are great places to begin taking a closer look at Jesus. We would be happy to read with you and discuss.
