Daily Worship - Weekend, 9/30-10/1/2023

Prepare:

Psalm 119:97-104

Read

Titus 2:1-10

Think

We are taking a 3-week look at this passage. Last week, Pastor Mike emphasized the way the “doctrine of God” looks on us when we wear it (like clothing).

This week, we will consider specifically what this means for older men and women. What does it look like for an old man to “wear the doctrine of God”? Old women? How does God’s grace enable us to live up to this calling?

Our culture tends to devalue the aged among us, but not God. Older men and women have an important and meaningful calling in the church. We never retire from godliness! And God’s grace is sufficient for us to live out our calling as older people.

Pray

Pray for the older people in our church. Thank the Lord for them and pray for their resolve to follow Christ in this specific season of life. Pray that they can encourage and teach younger people to follow Jesus. And pray for the younger people in the church; that they would be teachable in this!

Question 4
How and why did God create us?

God created us male and female in his own image to know him, love him, live with him, and glorify him. And it is right that we who were created by God should live to his glory.

discuss: questions for faith groups

How does the culture view aging? How should the church view aging? According to Titus 2:1-10, how does sound doctrine shape the way older men and women live? Identify practical ways to apply this passage, especially as it concerns older men and women: 1) in the church; and 2) in your family?

Sing

As pastor Mike said in Part 1 of the Titus 2:1-10 series, "Healthy doctine leads to healthy living." If we would live in a way that " adorns the doctrine of our God and Savior," we must been rooted and grounded in the one Gospel of Jesus Christ.
