Daily Worship - Weekend, 9/16-9/17

Prepare: Psalm 119:49-52

Remember your word to your servant,
in which you have made me hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction,
that your promise gives me life.
The insolent utterly deride me,
but I do not turn away from your law.
When I think of your rules from of old,
    I take comfort, O Lord.

Titus 1:10-16

Think

Last week Pastor Mike focused on Titus 1:9, and the call for elders (and the rest of us!) to hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught. This Sunday we will focus in together on why this is so urgent (from Titus 1:10-16). Paul speaks of a specific challenge facing Titus. What similar challenges do we face today?

What does it mean to hold firm and how do we grow in that as individuals and as a church? How is your faith affected by this firm grasp on God’s Word? Why is this such an important command in our day, as it was in Titus’?

Pray

Pray for the fall ministries the began at Faith this week. Pray that these bear fruit in the hearts of children, teens, and adults in our church. Pray for those who are leading the various ministries, and who serve in the fall. Finally, pray that the elders and pastors of Faith would hold firmly to the trustworthy Word as taught.

Question 2
What is God?

God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in his power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through him and by his will.

discuss: questions for faith groups

Discuss this: what are some challenges facing Christians and churches in America? How will holding firm to the trustworthy Word help is in the midst of these challenges? Discuss the various ways we practically hold firm to God’s Word and how that helps you individually. Finally, how can you disciple others to hold firmly to God’s Word?
