Psalm 9:15-20

Titus 3:8-11

On Sunday mornings at Faith, we continue to see, through the Epistle to Titus, the way that God works through his gospel in the life of the church and in the lives of Christians. Consider all the ways further noted in this this passage, that the gospel changes us. Spend some time giving thanks that you are not what you once were, by God’s grace.

And yet, we continue to struggle with areas of sin. In what areas mentioned in this passage are you in need of growth? How can you see God’s grace in your life growing you in these areas?

Pray for the church, and our gospel witness to our community as we get into another polarizing election cycle. Pray that we would continue to grow in these areas, and that we would see fruit from that in families, in neighborhoods and all over the city, for the glory of God. Pray for increased outreach to Sioux Falls, and to the nations.

Question 9
What does God require in the first, second, and third commandments?

First, that we know and trust God as the only true and living God. Second, that we avoid all idolatry and do not worship God improperly. Third, that we treat God’s name with fear and reverence, honoring also his Word and works.

discuss: questions for faith groups

How does Titus 3:3-7 serve as a basis for Titus 3:1-2? How does the gospel motivate and enable godly living? Discuss the command in verse 1 to be submissive to rulers and authorities. What does the Bible command this? Are there limits to this submission? What if we disagree with a leader, what then? How do we apply this in the way we teach our children about government, and the way we discuss this among friends?

May we desire to live  in this world in such a way that Christ is magnified in all that we say and do. This song, Christ Be Mangified expresses this desire.
