SUNDAY SERMON
The sermon for Sunday, November 10, is on John 5:19-24. Read this passage on Saturday night to prepare your heart for the preaching of God’s Word.
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer. Here's a helpful pattern to follow (ACTS):
- ADORATION - Praise God for all that he is and all that he had done.
- CONFESSION - Confess your sins to God and trust in the finish work of Christ. Thank him for his forgiveness.
- THANKSGIVING - Thank God for all the many blessings and graces he has shown you.
- SUPPLICATION - Ask your heavenly Father to supply your needs.
QUESTIONS FOR FAITH GROUPS
- How does Jesus describe His relationship with the Father in terms of authority and actions in verses 19-20? What does this teach us about the nature of their relationship?
- In verse 21, Jesus speaks about giving life. How does this compare to the Father’s role? What implications does this have for our understanding of eternal life and judgment?
- Verse 24 emphasizes the importance of hearing Jesus’ words and believing in the Father. How can we apply this principle in our daily lives? What does it mean to “cross over from death to life”?
- Jesus mentions that He will do even greater works than those already seen (verse 20). To which greater works is he referring?
