DAILY WORSHIP

READ

Luke 17:11-18:30

Proverbs 25

Weekend Reflection

This week in Luke, we read of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, on His way to the cross. As you know, the people shouted praises (Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord), laying their cloaks and palm branches before the donkey He rode. It must have been a marvelous sight and a wonderful sound.

The religious leaders thought it was excessive and urged Jesus to quiet the crowd. But Jesus replied, as recorded in Luke 19:40: “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Why would the stones cry out if people didn’t? Because all creation was made for God’s glory. Even nature, in the end, exists to glorify Him. Were no one to sing His praises, He would still be glorified. The universe itself exists to glorify God. Even the stones!

You were made for the glory of God. You were made to worship Jesus. Don’t stay silent. Your voice is better than stones.

PRAY

For the month July in our Daily Worship, we will be praying through our Five Loves during the week and our Mission and Vision statements on the weekend.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplicationwith thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6

When we say that we love God we’re not saying that we merely love the idea of God. We love the person of God. The remarkable truth is that God, the sovereign creator, and ruler of the universe, personally communicates with us and invites us to communicate with him. This happens through His word and prayer.

If you’re reading the Daily Worship posts on the app, then it’s clear you’re seeking to make personal worship a priority in your life. That’s great! Our desire at Faith is that each and every one of us would grow in the discipline of reading the word daily and praying.

  • Thank God for his word and that he has spoken to you through it.
  • Meditate upon a portion of God’s word that you read today in your reading.
  • Ask God to grow your love for his word and for God’s Spirit to use it to make you more like Christ.
  • Confess to God if you haven’t loved his word and prayer as you ought.
  • Trust God’s promises of forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Ask God to grow others in our church in their times of personal worship.
