READ
Weekend Reflection
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” -Psalm 34
There is such a contrast in our readings these weeks. On the one hand, we are reading about the faithlessness of Judah and the subsequent judgment of God on them. Jeremiah 52:3 tells us that in fierce anger the Lord cast Jerusalem and Judah from his presence. On the other hand, we read in the Psalms of the blessedness of finding refuge in the Lord, and the encouragement to taste and see that he is good.
We see God’s just anger against sin and his kindness and grace towards all who turn to him and trust him. All who taste will see that the Lord is good. Isn’t this an outline of the gospel? God is angry against sin and idolatry, but he shows kindness to all who trust in the Savior he sent to rescue us.
Just taste and you will see! He is good.
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer using part of The Lord's Prayer as a model.
"AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL." - Seek God's guidance in every aspect of your life. Ask him to guard you against the temptations of Satan, the flesh, and the world.
