WEEKEND REFLECTION
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible (176 verses!!)! But more importantly, this psalm is a wonderful testament to the power and importance of God's Word in our lives. It is clear that the psalmist views God’s Word as the source of life itself.
This psalm reminds us that God's Word is not just a set of rules to be obeyed, but a treasure more valuable than the purest gold. God’s Word brings light to the darkness, understanding to confusion, and direction to our steps.
Even in times of affliction, the psalmist clings to God's precepts, finding hope and deliverance in them. The Scriptures lead the Christian to great joy, peace, and continual praise
As we reflect on Psalm 119, let us pray for a renewed hunger for God's Word, asking Him to revive us through His righteousness. May we, like the psalmist, resolve to walk in accord with God's Word as long as we live, enjoying all the blessings that come from seeking His precepts.
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer. Here's a helpful pattern to follow (ACTS):
- ADORATION - Praise God for all that he is and all that he had done.
- CONFESSION - Confess your sins to God and trust in the finish work of Christ. Thank him for his forgiveness.
- THANKSGIVING - Thank God for all the many blessings and graces he has shown you.
- SUPPLICATION - Ask your heavenly Father to supply your needs.
