Weekend Reflection

On Monday, we read Psalm 139. What a precious psalm! The first few verses remind us that God is not distant or abstract, but imminent and personal. He knows our every thought, our every word (even before it is spoken). God discerns our going out and our lying down. God sees us completely. He understands everything about us, even better than we understand ourselves. In short, God knows us.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God knitted us together in our mothers’ wombs! In his book, every day of our lives are written, even before they happen. Ponder that. Does it make you uneasy to be so fully known? It shouldn’t! You should love this truth. God fully knows you, sin and all – every secret, every hidden flaw, everything! And yet, he loves you.

No wonder David said, “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God.” Meditate on Psalm 139 this weekend, and rejoice in God’s thoughts towards you.

PRAY

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Pray that God would keep you from sin and guard you from the temptations of the world. Ask God to help you be a witness for Christ in the midst of an evil and sinful world and that he would use you to tell others who are lost about Christ. Ask him to renew your mind daily that you would be captivated by the beauty of Christ above all earthly things.
