READ
Weekend Reflection
In our readings in the Psalms this week we read this gem: “But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. -Psalm 73:28
There are three parts to that. First, the psalmist recognizes how good it is to be near God. What a blessing! We deserve to be far away from God’s presence. He is holy, after all, and we are sinful. But Jesus, through his work at Calvary, has brought us near to him. We are suitable to be in God’s presence because we are righteous in Christ.
Second, the psalmist has made the Lord his refuge. People run to so many things when they are overwhelmed or frightened. The psalmist ran to God, and he rested in his care and provision. The Lord was his refuge.
Third, the outcome of all of this is the freedom and desire to testify of all God’s works. Evangelism springs up from hearts that have been brought near and make God their refuge.
God, through Christ, has brought you near. Make him your refuge today! And then testify of his goodness and grace!
PRAY
Take some time to commune with the Lord in prayer using part of The Lord's Prayer as a model.
"AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL." - Seek God's guidance in every aspect of your life. Ask him to guard you against the temptations of Satan, the flesh, and the world.
