Bible Readings and Prayer Points

We recommend you have a notebook and pen for answering questions and recording your thoughts and insights. Bring this notebook with you to Faith Group for discussions and prayer times. Select a quiet place and consistent time to read and pray. We also recommend you pray for a moment before you read God’s word and ask for his illumination by the power of the Holy Spirit as you read.

A different approach

We have been in Proverbs now for several months, so perhaps you don’t need the daily questions and prayer points! Can you do it on your own? Yes! Yes you can. So for each day, use the following items to guide you:

  1. What word or phrase captures the heart of each proverb?
  2. Which of these proverbs applies most to my life today?
  3. How can I pray today in light of these truths?

Jot down your thoughts, ponder, and then pray! Do this daily.

Monday, October 28

Proverbs 29:15-22

Tuesday, October 29

Proverbs 29:23-27

Wednesday, October 30

Proverbs 30:1-6

With this new section, the single proverb per two-line verse pattern is broken; however, continue to discern the primary point of each proverb. For example, what is the answer to the 4 questions in v. 4?

Thursday, October 31

Proverbs 30:7-14

Friday, November 1

Proverbs 30:15-17

These unique sayings may be harder to discern, but well worth the thought and effort! If you need extra help, consult the ESV Study Bible or another source. Is there someone (or something) in your life that seems overly demanding (“Give and Give”)? Tell the Lord in prayer! Ask him for wisdom and grace.

TAI: Pastor Dana will preach on this call to prayer as we gather to worship with the Lord’s Supper. What motivation does Paul have in mind when he says, “…by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit”? How can prayer be “striving together”? Paul did eventually get to Rome, but in a rather unexpected way: what was it? Was he refreshed by their company? Consult Acts 28:15-16 for the answer. Does it seem like v. 33 is the end of Romans? If so, what is chapter 16?

PP: Strive together in your prayers with others from Faith Baptist to pray for Pastor Dana as he preaches this message and leads us in Communion. Also, pray for our Faith team of missionaries who daily live for Christ in their unique “Judea, Jerusalem, and Rome.” Pray that God would refresh their souls through this word, fellowship with co-workers and local believers, and us! Ask God to help you
